Service: Phase 1 – Fast tracked engineering strategy (Study) / Post Phase 1 – Detailed design, procurement and fabrication.

In 2020 during the UIS Phase 1 fast-tracked engineering strategy, the AfriTin engineering owner’s team identified and prioritised two areas which needed immediate focus. The two areas consisted of a new addition to the front-end section of the plant as well as the optimization of the wet plant and recovery section.

ADP Namibia provided engineering resources to AfriTin over a nine (9) week period assisting in finalising a Class 3 level design. In 2021 AfriTin made the decision to proceed with the implementation of the front-end section (UIS Plant dry circuit section) and ADP Namibia assisted with the final detail design, procurement and fabrication.

The project kicked off in October 2021 whereby ADP Namibia had the responsibilities of detail design, fabrication and procurement, partial trail assembly of gantry sections, factory acceptance testing, transport of steel and equipment delivery to site. The final steel delivery took place July 2022 with belt feeder installation August 2022. Andrada Mining (formerly AfriTin Mining) continued with the construction phase and the plant was commissioned later that same year.

New addition added to the plant front-end section which increases the ROM feed from 80 tph to 140 tph. New standalone secondary screening and crushing modules were added as an additional liberation step to send a fines fraction to the new DMS stockpile for additional DMS surge capacity.

Project duration October 2021 to August 2022.
