Dredge Refurbishment & Conversion – !Gaeb

The objective of the upgrade project was to convert the dredge operation from diesel to electrical, thereby reducing OPEX cost.  The dredge pump capacity was increased to meet the requirement to pump boulder riddled sand.  This EPCM project execution plan was based on being a brown fields installation.

The Dredge was transported to Cape Town whereby it was modified and converted.  The final construction and modification phases of the project were executed in a fenced yard outside the Engineering Projects workshop in Oranjemund.  

Post completion, the dredge was then transported, assembled, and commissioned in a dewater dredge pond in the Southern Coastal Mine.
