In support of South Africa’s Mandela Day, members of our ADP team visited the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, providing a donation of AU$2,500 (which equates to around 30,000 South African Rand) and bringing smiles to the children’s faces with the distribution of gift bags.
Mandela Day is an annual global celebration that takes place on 18 July to honour the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. This day is a call to action for individuals, communities, and organisations to take time to reflect on Mandela’s values and principles and to make a positive impact in their own communities.
The hospital, which is located only a short distance from ADP’s office in Cape Town, is South Africa’s only dedicated child health institution, offering a comprehensive range of specialist paediatric services. The funds will be used to support the hospital’s Burns Unit Project.
The team had the opportunity to visit the general wards and learn more about the various services provided at the hospital, including child protection, family care and the work of the burns unit.
While the hospital is a government facility, funding is limited and therefore the support provided by donations from the community is essential, and ADP looks forward to continuing its relationship with The Children’s Hospital Trust and giving its support to children in need.
